Volunteering in Longmont, CO with Habitat for Humanity. 

Longmont Triathlon 2009.  Shari & Brian are members of "Melanoma Militia" a multisport team dedicated to raising awareness of skin cancer and melanoma in the community.  Shari is a 7 year cancer survivor of stage II melanoma.  Sadly this past July Shari's Dad passed away from a recurrence of his previous melanoma diagnosis from 4 years ago.  The team is sponsored by local merchants.  For more information about this cause and the team, please visit www.MelanomaMilitia.com 

 Four Sail Realty participates in these community events, not just to help the melanoma militia non-profit.  By participating in multisport events, it also helps the official charities that are sponsored by the event directors.  A portion of the registration fees to sign up for an event go towards the charity that the directors have selected.  So it is a win-win-win scenario!  We educate the community about skin cancer prevention & early detection.  The official charity gets a donation and  by training and participating in the events we stay in good shape!

Brian and Shari Ellwanger 2006 (Swim 1/2 Mile, Bike 12 Miles, Run 3.1 Miles)

Danskin Women's Triathlon-At Aurora Reservoir in Denver, CO.  Supports the Official Charity of  The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Shari participated as a survivor in the Cancer Survivor wave of the Triathlon with Rocky Mountain Team Survivor, a support group for women cancer survivors of all types of cancers.  The group encourages women of all shapes, sizes and cancer survivorship to get fit and eat healthy during and after cancer treatment.

Our 2nd year in a row participating in the Longmont Triathlon.  Picture of us before the big start.  It was a great day!  Shari beat her time from last year by 2 whole minutes.  Brian and Shari both made it in the Longmont Daily Times Call paper that listed the top 100 male and female finishers.  This was a fun community event, with lots of spectators cheering the athletes on.  And of course our family was there with smiling faces and signs for motivation.

Relay For Life 2008

Shari Ellwanger (right) with her Aunt at Relay For Life in Longmont, CO at Roosevelt Park on June 20, 2008.  This over night relay event brings the community together to spread the hope of curing cancer one day, by raising funds for research and advocacy.  All the cancer survivors were sporting the purple t-shirts that night. We raised money and walked that night with the community and family to remember those that we have lost to this disease and honored those in treatment or survivorship.  This event is sponsored by the

American Cancer Society.
